Orainic is excited to announce its latest collaboration with National Coal Group Corp., a leader in the global coal mining industry, to develop an intelligent underground transport system – MineRover. This state-of-the-art solution aims to revolutionize material handling and logistics in mining environments by integrating autonomous tracking, real-time monitoring, and advanced safety mechanisms into a compact and highly efficient system.

Innovative Technology for Safer and Smarter Mining

MineRover is designed to enhance operational efficiency and reduce human labor in hazardous underground environments. Built with intelligent tracking technology, real-time obstacle detection, and automatic load monitoring, the system ensures seamless transport of materials between mining sites while maintaining strict safety standards.

The project includes:

  • Autonomous Follow Mode: MineRover can automatically track personnel using UWB positioning and millimeter-wave radar, optimizing movement and reducing manual handling efforts.

  • Advanced Safety Systems: Integrated LiDAR, ultrasonic sensors, and methane detection ensure safe navigation in explosive-prone environments.

  • Smart Control & Monitoring: The industrial-grade control unit, supported by a robust industrial operation system (OS) and embedded microcontroller, enables remote monitoring, emergency stop protocols, and predictive maintenance.

  • Compliance with Industry Standards: The system is undergoing national explosion-proof (Ex) and 3C safety certifications, ensuring compliance with mine safety regulations.

Driving Innovation Through Collaboration

The partnership with National Coal Group Corp. aligns with the company’s commitment to modernising the mining industry through intelligent automation and AI-driven logistics.

“We are proud to work with National Coal Group Corp. on this transformative project,” said Jack Li, the principal consulting of Orainic, “MineRover represents a significant step forward in automating underground material transport while ensuring the highest safety and efficiency standards.”

Next Steps

The development of MineRover is progressing rapidly, with initial prototype testing scheduled within the next six months. Full deployment is anticipated within the year, following rigorous performance validation and certification processes.

Orainic remains committed to pushing the boundaries of intelligent mining solutions, ensuring safer and more efficient operations in the world’s most demanding industrial environments.

Stay tuned for more updates on MineRover and our innovations in intelligent mining transport systems!
